The ATP covers Listening and Speaking, Reading and Viewing, Writing and Presenting, and Language Structures and Conventions across all terms.
Term 1 includes transactional texts such as emails and letters to the press, as well as narrative/reflective/descriptive/argumentative/discursive essays and process writing.
Mid-year exams include Paper 1 (Language in context, 80 marks) and Paper 2 (Literature, 70 marks), or a controlled test as specified.
The trial exam includes Paper 1 (Language in context), Paper 2 (Literature), and Paper 3 (Writing), with the marks and durations listed in the ATP.
Term 4 focuses on revision using previous exam papers for all papers, followed by the final NSC examination.
