Requirements

What APS is required for this degree?

In our dataset, the listed minimum APS for this programme is 42+.

APS is not the only check. You also need to meet compulsory subject minimums (for example English and Mathematics levels).

What subjects are compulsory?

The programme lists these minimums in our dataset:

  • English Home Language or First Additional Language Level 5+
  • Mathematics Level 5+
  • Physical Sciences Level 5+

Open the requirement page here: Wits course requirements.

Can I get in without Physical Sciences?

It depends on the degree. Engineering and some Science programmes commonly require Physical Sciences. If it is compulsory, you generally cannot replace it with a higher APS.

If Physical Sciences matters for your plan, practise with past papers:

If You Are Short

What happens if I am short by 1–2 points?

If you are short by a small margin, you can still apply, but selection is uncertain. Your first priority is meeting compulsory subject minimums.

After that, improve the subjects that count most toward APS (usually Mathematics and languages) and re-check your result.

Competitiveness

Is this degree competitive?

Competitiveness depends on demand and capacity. Minimum APS is the starting point, not the finish line, especially for high-demand degrees.

If you already meet minimum subjects, improving Maths and English can still make you more competitive.
